CHRISTIAN & THE 2120’s

Med influenser som Bob Dylan, John Lee Hooker och tysk krautrock har Christians minimalistiska singer/songwriter stil tagit honom runt om i världen på ett minst sagt omvälvande sätt.

Under en väldigt intensiv period, med ca 250 gig i 11 länder fick han samtidigt ett otroligt genomslag med sina låtar i Hollywoodserier som SONS OF ANARCHY, SHAMELESS, THE GOOD WIFE, CSI MIAMI, MTV’s DEATH VALLEY och i filmer som tex PUNCTURE, SHANGHAI CALLING, THE HEAT, THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

Christian valde att dra åt handbromsen efter en lång Europa turné i november 2019 för att hitta tillbaka till sitt fokus och till glädjen för att skriva musik. Det blev startskottet för att för första gången skriva på svenska och mitt i pandemin, våren 2022, släppte han den progg doftande skivan BLOD OCH ALKOHOL. Turnerandet uteblev men som plåster på såret blev första singeln “Hem till gårn” veckans singel och han veckans artist i P4.

Den 1 maj kommer uppföljaren CHAMPS (skål för livet) ut på alla digitala plattformar och det är en skiva som berör glädje, förlust, döden och kärleken. Skriven på svenska, inspelad och producerad tillsammans med parhästen Kristoffer Ragnstam (Maja Hirasawa, Timo Räisänen, Deadheads, They Owe Us mfl) precis som förra gången. Releaseturnén bär genom Sverige och flera länder i Europa. US är det dax för också.

RIVER LUCIFER (DE/SWE)

Vi tar ett dopp i det mörkaste vattnen av pop, rock, blues och gospel. River Lucifer bildades i Sverige under 2023. Snicken (Stonewall Noise Orchestra) spelade in några låtar och kom att tänka på Singe, originalet och den tidigare sångaren i Stonewall Noise Orchestra, skulle passa perfekt på en låt eller två. Det hela slutade med att både Singe och Snicken sjöng tillsammans på 9 av 10 låtar.

River Lucifer släppte sitt självbetitlade album 16 februari på DAREDEVIL RECORDS, mastrad av Henryk Lipp (Freddie Wadling, Thåström, Håkan Hellström mfl) på Music-a-Matic och mixad av Tobbe Bøvik (The Awesome Machine mfl) på Ofelia Productions. SNO vapendragarna åker nu ut på en akustisk releasturné i EU som inkluderar flera datum i Sverige.

Zander Hawley is coming back to town!

For those who were fortunate enough to catch him last time at Vega, or perhaps the infamous, invite-only gardenfestival Way Out Waylon; well you already know how good this is. Zander is nothing short of amazing on a stage and we’re really happy to have him grace ours on May 18th!

Zander Hawley is a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles. Described as “an avalanche of feeling” (Atwood Magazine), “acutely self-aware” (Noisey) and “consistently captivating, lyrical storytelling” (Ones To Watch), he has toured the US, Canada, and Europe including Sweden to where he soon will return for concerts during spring and summer. The songs of Zander Hawley have been featured in series like “The Following” on Fox, “The Recruit” on Netflix as well as in the “The Rookie” on ABC where he also appears as Rodge.

On top of that, Zander has recorded an excellent pop album in the studio of Lüxfällan together with Kristoffer Ragnstam from They Owe Us. It goes by the name of “The Ventura Exit” and will be distributed physically through Bengans Distribution starting on May 31. Also, Zander likes the sunrise and jumping into cold water with his clothes on. Any questions?

We had a show cancelled really late for Friday 3/5, and that happens sometimes, no worries – but it’s always weird trying to come up with something to replace it with on short notice. Do you do something similar, or do you go the opposite route?

Well, the answer is you choose the one thing you all swore to never do. And you force the two people you know with a dark, Lejontrappan-drenched past to host it against their wills. Yes, you do a goddamned EMO QUIZ instead!

We’re open an usual with After Work from 17:00 but come 19:00, everyone turns sad, emotional and angry as Jon’s custom quiz is presented by the very, VERY uncomfortable Kiffe; just the way a true emo-host should feel!

Stillborn:
These cult heroes are releasing their new album ”Netherworlds” via Black Lodge on June 28th. On this record, they have dug even deeper and created a heavier and darker album than ever. Their typical mix of doom with gothic influences is recognizable from their previous records and perhaps most from the classic “Necrospirituals” released in -89.

Dun Ringill:
Kknown for masterfully merging doom with prog and folk, this 6-piece is finally releasing the second part of their concept album ”150 – Where the Old Gods Play – Act 2″ on September 1st. “Act 1” was released in 2023 and was met by a unanimous group of critics who praised the album.
“Act 2” moves into the dark part of the story of this massive concept, and the music reinforces the narrative into this bleak and menacing landscape.

Year of the Goat:
YOTG have been delivering heavy rock with roots from the darker scene of the 60s and 70s since 2006. Melodies, emotional harmonies and vocals, layers of eerie guitar balanced with the perfect amount of organ create an atmosphere that is impossible to resist. The first release came in 2011 and over the years YOTG has released 3 full-lengths, 2 EP’s and two singles, all of which were received with open arms by music lovers. The band has played at festivals around the world such as Wacken, Hellfest, Sweden Rock etc. During the past year they have been busy recording a new album, but also worked on the soundtrack for the upcoming sequel to Hevi Reissu (Heavy Trip).

On Saturday the 8th of june, this glorious club continues to harass your beautiful minds! Get lost in the bathroom stalls, behind the Pripps containers or, as a matter of fact, in front of the stage!

Do you realise how good a club is when it hasn’t even had it’s premiere (hello Rise Above (NO) + Sodakill on Friday 26/4) but is already releasing it’s second date? WE’RE JUST THAT GOOD! And no, this is NOT a club that only books Norwegian headliners and Swedish supportbands, but you’re not crazy for thinking so. Get those tickets and let’s mess things up together!

Fox Womb will open this evening with their ferocious sound stright from the gutters of Gothenburg. They are steadily becoming one of the most promising hardcore acts of today, with a fresh touch on an old sound that we all know so very well. This band brings the energy to fill every room in our culture-rich city and we are blessed to have them violate our stage! They even have a really long name on their latest ep! It’s great!
Fun fact: Johannes, their drummer has had to endure Carl as a client when he used to work with printing shirts and stuff. Imagine having to deal with that; and then you know the drumming will be violent!

Rosa Faenskap is just as good as it translates to, with a vivid sound that resonates through everything it touches. They describe themselves as a declaration of love for – as well as a declaration of war against – black metal itself! Nedless to say, we had to check it out for ourselves and we couldn’t be more proud to have them close out the evening this fine Saturday.

Fredag 24/5 gör vi en hyllning i Göteborg till den småländska Emmabodafestivalen som fick sitt genombrott på 90-talet som en indiefestival!

Vi kommer koka ner det bästa med festivalen till 5 timmar klubb och köra i kronologisk ordning från DJ-båset.
Vi inleder med 90-talets indieband som bob hund, The Ark, Broder Daniel, Bad Cash Quartet & Jens Lekman m. fl.
Sedan går vi vidare till Emmaboda 2.0 när den elektroniska musiken tog över med band som Justice, Crystal Castles, Skrillex & Infected Mushroom, hippa hiphop-artister som Fricky & Yung Lean och inte att förglömma guilty pleasures som Markoolio & Dr. Bombay.
Sedan rejvar vi självklart Kojan-style med tech house och en smak av Shorelinetimmen!

Ringön Swapmeet is back and this time it’s all about vinyl, CD’s, cassettes and beyond! Yes, it’s time for a classic RECORD FAIR-EDITION!

We’ve invited some of our favourite shops to set up tables, but we’re really looking forward to some private collectors to bring out their treasures. Expect tons of records in all shapes, sizes and formats – and no entrance fee as usual, as well as bars and kitchen open all day. Tell a friend and let’s make it happen!

Ringön Swapmeet is our very own in-house, somewhat recurring; locally focused marketplace! The idea is simple: we choose a theme or common thread, then invite folks around town and let them set up shop/tables/whatever inside the venue – and then ya’ll come by and buy/eye/trade/admire it all. Bars and kitchen will be open, so you’ll be able to make great decisions while walking around the vendors.

Thursday the 9th of May is Christ’s Ascension Day a.k.a Kristihimmelfärds.

It is said that this is the day Jesus left the earth and was taken up to heaven – but we thought we would stay on Ringön and travel in a completely different way when Wolfschmidt takes over the stage at Monument on this fine evening instead!

Wolfschmidt är det hopplösa livet fyllt av naiv längtan. De är stupet i själen och ekot av flimrande minnen. Indiebandet från Göteborg kokar ner sina tidigare liv till deras unika “gazegrunge”-sound som växt fram rakt ur asfalten på Ringön. Från att ha startats som ett utforskande inspelningsprojekt 2021 med Elin Edgren (sång) och Hampus Sjöstedt (trummor) har lösa låt- och soundidéer idag formats till en fullskalig liveexplosion av dimmig shoegaze och mörk grunge tillsammans med Viggo Olsson på bas samt Anders Martin Lisle och Petter Lithvall på gitarr.

 

Söderled kom till liv 2023 och består av de två vännerna Daniel och Staffan. Med sin vision “att i ett litet och enkelt format skapa stor drömpop”, så mejslar Söderled fram små världar där utgångspunkten ofta är en gitarr eller bas som sedan kläs i syntar, trummaskin och diverse slagverk. I den lilla studion i Majorna, Göteborg sammanfattar duon livet där och då i text och toner.
Under våren 2024 har Söderled släppt de tre singlarna Krossa glas, Drömmar och Björn.
